75 owies

new time limit
The nerves had already kicked in; now they're on extreme alert.

I knew last year I'd need to be 15 minutes faster to make it to the summit of Pikes Peak this year.

Now comes the rider packet, with the announcement of one less hour of riding time this year.

I have to be an hour and 15 minutes faster this year.

My "I think I can" chant isn't too audible at the moment, and these blasted water droplets won't stop dribbling down my cheeks.

But I've worked hard this year. I'm fighting to stay positive.

I will not be swept.

  1. They shaved a *whole HOUR* off??!!??

Having to do some breathing exercises, just so I don't start shrieking expletives.

    Breathe.Breathe.Breathe.

All I can say is, the 'size of the fight in the girl' is incalculable in your case. You will not be swept.

  3. I have a goal to run the Boston Marathon and this year they lowered the qualifying times. But I will get there with training.

    Trust your training.

  4. You can do it, Deb! We're behind you all the way, pushing you with our invisible arms. Focus on the goal, breathe, and enjoy the ride either way.

  5. What lunatic made that decision? And why the heck couldn't they tell entrants about it earlier in the season? I'm with Titanium and am biting back the salty language right now.

You've trained well and faithfully. I wish you the best ride of your life. Hang in there.

  8. Gulp. But on the positive side, that means 60 minutes less pain, right? You've been training hard, maybe read back over your bike posts for some self-inspiration :)

Dusty words lying under carpets,
seldom heard, well must you keep your secrets
locked inside, hidden deep from view?
