  1. Good ol' Shel Silverstein. He writes such great poetry with a little edge to it. I love the dog.

Just noticed that your dad's a model railroader. So is mine! (HO gauge.) Every year when we were kids we had a train layout under our Christmas tree, with a snowy mountain hiding the Christmas tree stand. Dad would work on it every weekend for months leading up to Christmas. Some years the layout took up the entire width of the living room and we could climb right into a space in the middle to run the train. (He very generously shared his toys with us.) Dad's in his 80's now but he still builds a new layout every year for the Christmas tree. They're just a little smaller now. Thanks for bringing up such a great memory.

  3. When I see amazing pieces like this, I don't know if I'll ever have the patience to do quilting. Love the theme on this one. Our youngest daughter's favorite book for many years was Where the Sidewalk Ends.

Dusty words lying under carpets,
seldom heard, well must you keep your secrets
locked inside, hidden deep from view?
You can talk to me... (Stevie Nicks)
