WIPper Snapper

And just like that, the year is half over. Where on earth is time going?!?

Although I finished two quarters of my Lizard Toes quilt during the Spring Quarter, I did not finish a quilt each month, as planned, and I haven't done a Block a Day, as planned, in more than two months. I don't think I touched my sewing machine in nearly six weeks until last weekend.

I did, however, begin putting together the skirt pieces of a butterfly dress I cut out back in... I had to look it up. I made my first handkerchief hem butterfly dress in 2018 for my niece's wedding (the very same niece expecting a baby boy this summer).

I loved the butterfly dress so much, I decided to make a second one. I remembered cutting out the skirt pieces, but I didn't remember cutting out the pockets! I was so happy to discover that part was already done! They still need to be sewn onto the skirt front and back, but they are already cut out!

I did remember not being able to choose which fabric I should use for the bodice. And it's still got me kind of stymied.

When I cut out the second dress skirt panels three years ago, I used some of my favorite butterfly fabrics in my stash, including my own Spoonflower design for one panel. I kind of wish now I had waited because I've picked up some additional butterfly fabrics in the past three years that I like SO much more! I guess this means I may have to make a third butterfly dress! Perhaps even a fourth and a fifth...

I've even got one more new butterfly design on Spoonflower I haven't had a chance to test print yet, and I'm thinking it might make a wonderful wrap dress all by itself, without any other fabrics.

I almost didn't sign up for the Ravelry challenge this quarter because I was so discouraged for not being able to finish a WIP last quarter. I have had a worthy goal for the past couple of years of not starting any new quilts until I finish a few more WIPs. But with two more new babies coming to the family in the next few weeks, I'm having to scramble once again to get quilts done in time because I'm expecting two new nephews, and none of my WIPs (except the one for my bed) are suitable for a baby boy. I'm grateful I had a couple of panels in my stash that will work perfectly.

Here is my once again growing WIP list for the Summer Quarter:

  2. Lots of fun WIPs to keep you busy. How big are your Tickled Pink squares? Are you going to do a basic patchwork with them or do you have a different plan .... or like me and most of my WIPs, waiting for inspiration to strike, lol.
