On Wings of Fabric

It isn't on my WIP list, but it's done, and now it won't ever be on my WIP list, and that makes me a very happy butterfly!

We discovered our hot water heater was leaking when we got home from work. Lizard called the plumber, and I emailed my bosses to find out if I could be late the next day.

And this is what I finished while I waited!

Just a couple of days earlier, we had a butterfly relative as a guest for a few hours. A Columbia Silk Moth landed on our front door, fascinating all the neighborhood children.

I'd found one on the finish line at Ride the Rockies last year, too, and that one seemingly befriended me after I lifted it from the finish line to a safer resting spot. Turns out these babies don't fly much during the day because birds eat them. The females begin calling to the males at about 3 in the morning until sunrise. So next morning, my visitor was gone.

I decided the silk moth is my spirit animal. That made choosing a quilting project to work on while waiting for the plumber a simple task.

  1. Dude, what a day!! I've never seen a beautiful moth in person. Only in Silence of the Lambs.
The quilt work is slick, great job!! Ironic theme? I do fancy you claimed moth as your spirit animal. It's unique yet fits!

    1. Thank you, Harlynn. It’s pretty cool that the moths keep winding up resting close to me so I can keep them safe.

  2. Shows there is a perk to needing a plumber, can get things done, even though the hot water heater going kaput is never fun. Ours here went out last Friday, blah to cold showers, couldn't last more than 45 seconds in there.

    1. Wow, can’t believe we both had water heater malfunction at the same time, Pat! You better check the bearings on you car/truck wheels, just in case! That was next on our ER docket!

    1. Thanks, Joy! I really love the backing, too. I used some of the leftovers from the bodice of the butterfly dress in the backing! But you probably noticed that already... :)
