WIP it up!

Sometimes you have to ditch the To-Do List and go with what's inspiring you. That's how I filled my second quarter quilting adventures.

I was worried my new starts during the spring quarter of the Ravelry Quilter's WIP challenge, as opposed to a single finish, was going to send my lengthy summer Ravelry list way down the river. In review, however, the list didn't grow all that much; some of the most-involved piecing I did during April, May and June completed or improved flimsies already on my list. The list did grow, but the growth includes one (favorite) WIP accidentally dropped off the list last quarter, and the others, well...

My "Heart of Gold" was and is therapy after one of my most difficult days in about 13 or 14 years. I love how the quilt's theme surrounded me with images of love just when I needed it most. Both on the giving end as well as the receiving end.

My "Colorworks Concepts" flimsy was an impulse purchase while on vacation in California in April, and I think the finished quilt will be a favorite among this year's young Christmas recipients, so very much worth adding. Plus, it worked up in only a few days! I never tire of looking at it. It makes me want to sew!

Two new wall quilt WIPs are from photos I had printed on fabric by Spoonflower during an irresistible sale, were oh, so quick to put together, and oh, my heavens, do they turn heads!

One of my existing WIPs that saw a lot of my sewing machine last quarter, "Blue Floral Nostalgia", ended up using up most of the blue floral scraps I've collected for more than 20 years. I still have to quilt it, and I may do that one by hand to preserve the delicious nostalgic flavor, but finishing the flimsy resulted in TWO reductions on my WIP list! Way to go! Use up those scraps!!! Combine projects and make the WIPs go away!

Another quilt WIP that went away is the leftover green floral batik strips from "Welcome to the Jungle", which I ended up incorporating into a dress instead of a quilt. Loving my new maxi dress to pieces, literally!

Here's this quarter's WIP list:

  1. You're sure never lacking in inspiration or ones to do. Sometimes have to ditch it indeed and just go with what wants to be done. Although my ocd tries to keep me limited to only writing a few books at a time

    1. One of the best things about having too many projects ongoing, Pat, is being able to change focus at will depending upon mood!

  2. Love the blues and the lizard too!

    "Now whip it
    Into shape
    Shape it up
    Get straight
    Go forward
    Move ahead
    Try to detect it
    It's not too late
    To whip it
    Whip it good"

Dusty words lying under carpets,
seldom heard, well must you keep your secrets
locked inside, hidden deep from view?
You can talk to me... (Stevie Nicks)
