Snowflake Monday

After my sweet garden-loving sister-in-law saw on my blog all the dinosaur eggs I made for the grands, she told me how much she loved them. Her birthday was the following Monday. I couldn't finish another box full of rainbow rocks that quickly, so her birthday present was a tad late. I don't think she will mind.

Today's pattern is the lacy green rock covering I made for her new garden rocks, and it's super lacy because I'm almost out of the store-bought green crochet thread. I didn't want to have to buy more. When I began making rainbow-covered rocks, the whole purpose was to diminish the store-bought thread stash. I already caved once and bought more yellow; I didn't want to buy more green. I'd rather dye more green!

It's kind of a good thing I did today's flake with a tiny amount of thread. I don't have much hand-dyed red, white and blue thread left, and that's another thing I want to dye, not buy!

Thankfully, there's no shortage of patriotism in my little corner of the world today.

You may do whatever you'd like with snowflakes you make from this pattern, but you may not sell or republish the pattern. Thanks, and enjoy!

If using glue, mix a few drops of water with a teaspoon of glue in small washable container. Paint snowflake with glue mixture or desired stiffener. Sprinkle lightly with glitter. Wash paintbrush and container thoroughly. Allow snowflake to dry at least 24 hours. Remove pins. Gently peel snowflake from wax paper or plastic wrap. Attach 10-inch clear thread to one spoke, weaving in end. Wrap fishing line around tree branch (or tape to ceiling or any overhead surface) and watch the snowflake twirl freely whenever you walk by! Snowflake also may be taped to window or tied to doorknob or cabinet handle.

    1. Aww! Thank you, Alycia! I had one more patriotic barn somewhere, and I couldn't find it. But this is a good collection, I think.

  3. Ooh, that is some pretty thread (the red white and blue I mean, though really it's all pretty)! I love the bird photos too, and the flag photos, and the barn and mountains.... What a neat gift for your SIL.

    1. Thank you, Sue! She loved them! I can't wait until she sends photos of where she puts them in her garden! And my son took a particular liking to that thread, too. Surprised me! I told him I'll hold onto that one for him. :)
