  1. Must be fun to catch them in action like this. How long did the bottom two go on and did either one get hurt? =)

  2. Super cool shots! I love the way the white tips on the antlers really stand out in the middle picture above.

  3. Wonderful elk photos. Even with a telephoto you have to have been close to get them.

  4. Thank you, Sandra, PropellerHeadMom and Tulsa Gent! Sandra, no, these two guys didn't get hurt. They were working off frustration because it wasn't their turn with the girls yet. They all eventually get a chance to mate. It's a ball to watch the elk rut, but sometimes I feel for them. I mean, I wouldn't like people gawking at me while I'm with my husband!!!

  12. Swampy, thanks for the link!!! That is some spectacular footage and dazzling camerawork. I try to stay a safe distance from all the animals I shoot, but sometimes I get so caught up in the pictures, they do sneak up on me from behind! I shot these elk very near where that video takes place, in Rocky Mountain National Park, in Moraine Park.

  13. Ha! And I just noticed my quote of the day from Helen Keller! How fitting!!!

"Security is mostly a superstition. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run that outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing."
