Snowflake Monday

New year, new special project!!! This year, I'm hoping to share my completed project with you the day of our second annual Snowflake Ball on February 6! I have a blizzard of snowflake surprises up my sleeve for that entire week.

Last year, for the first annual Snowflake Day/Make a Snowflake Day, I created a glow-in-the-dark crochet Snowball. I also created a quilt with about 140 white snowflakes, my first big secret "special project."

I wanted to come up with something even better this year.

For this year's special project, I thought I needed 84 different (all white) little snowflakes. I had just used up more than 40 of the leftover snowflakes from Snowbike on our Christmas cards, so 84 snowflakes wasn't going to be as easy as it could have been.

The day after Christmas I realized I would to need 160 snowflakes. Nearly double! YIKES!

As a result, today's pattern has options. I was excited by how many different variations I could get out of just one pattern! And how fast some of the smaller options work up!

I'll be snowflaking away for probably the entire month. Last year, I started with the A's from my Snowflake Directory and went alphabetically all the way through about the M's (I think). So this time, I started with the Z's and am working my way backwards through the alphabet. I still need about 50 more snowflakes as of this writing.

Feel free to join in the Snowflake Ball activities at Sisters of the Snowflake!

You may do whatever you'd like with snowflakes you make from this pattern, but you may not sell or republish the pattern. Thanks, and enjoy!

Wash paintbrush and container thoroughly. Allow snowflake to dry at least 24 hours. Remove pins. Gently peel snowflake from wax paper or plastic wrap. Attach 10-inch clear thread to one spoke, weaving in end. Wrap fishing line around tree branch (or tape to ceiling or any overhead surface) and watch the snowflake twirl freely whenever you walk by!
