Not So Silver Lining

(affiliate links to my designs)

I often see crochet tutorials boasting that no sewing is necessary. I sometimes procrastinate assembling my tiny amigurumi because sewing the arms and legs to the body is time-consuming. But I've never quite understood why anyone wouldn't like to sew a lining into a crocheted bag.

Last year I finally completed two crochet bags that had been hiding in my craft closet for more than a decade because the lining had not been sewed in. I had procrastinated, but not because I don't like lining my projects.

I recently completed another scrunchie set and decided to make a coordinating carry-all. I don't want anything to fall out of the bag, so I lined it. I machine-stitched a lining and even added a change pocket to the inside. I then hand-stitched it to the crocheted bag.

Hand-sewing is time-consuming, but so satisfying. Perhaps even calming...
