Good. They can eat all your SLF, since they both originated in the same country. Maybe then they'll leave the other 'flutterbees,' alone.

Not sure what SLF means, but our praying mantises do a lot of good. I'm very happy to have them in my garden.

DeleteUnfortunately you probably have babies of the Chinese mantis, which can reach 100mm in length. They were introduced to the U.S. about 80 yrs ago. They do equally harm as good, since they do NOT discriminate between beneficial & bad insects. They eat them all. =>¿<=
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I had to do research. I've found both egg cases in my yard and garden. Last year, according to my photos, I had one Chinese mantis and three Carolina mantises (that I know of; they may have been others). I didn't know the difference until I looked them up. The egg case that just released is indeed Chinese. But there is one more egg case that I know of, which is not round. Now that I know the difference, I will bury any Chinese egg cases in the future.
