Congratulations!

If your thread size matched your hook (perhaps size 20 or size 30 thread?), that would account for the small size. I've not tried this pattern with that small of thread, but I'll bet it's beautiful and delicate!

I'm using mostly a size 7 or size 8 hook with size 10 thread now. I think I was crocheting much more loosely then, and that's why I was able to use such a small hook with size 10 thread.

Thanks for letting me know how your project went! You've inspired me to try this one with smaller thread!Snowcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06360228352528558176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7672125489692725745.post-33638241428189448392016-02-02T14:17:12.637-07:002016-02-02T14:17:12.637-07:00Hi, I love this snowflake. It turned out nicely, but is only 4 inches across. I used a size 12 steel hook because I didn't have the size 11. I expected it to be a little bit smaller, due to the smaller hook, but was surprised it is so much smaller. I just looked up hook sizes and found a variety of metric measurements for the same hoook size - size 11 ranging from 0.70 mm to 1.1mm, and 12 from 0.6 to 1.0. So maybe my 12 is extra small. Well, it doesn't matter since it still looks great. Thank you for creating this pattern.Marahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10393546552794267786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7672125489692725745.post-72199586429495580482015-12-10T22:04:30.372-07:002015-12-10T22:04:30.372-07:00Thank you, Katherine! I've tried visually working through the repeat (because I don't have a crochet hook with me at the moment), and I don't see a problem with the instructions. Perhaps you could explain what you mean by your long chain? Is that the chain loop you are making for each petal?

If the first petals rows you worked turned out properly, the eighth row is worked in the same manner but with more stitches to make a bigger petal. If you are unable to find a Round 7 sc on your 4th repeat, is it possible you may have missed making that sc? That's the only thing I can think of the way you've described your problem.Snowcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06360228352528558176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7672125489692725745.post-64477919425521736002014-12-12T08:37:23.523-07:002014-12-12T08:37:23.523-07:00Hi Snowcatcher! But I am desperately stuck in row 7 and 8:
At the end of row 7 I get ch5 (from repetition) plus ch2 plus dc, which gives me a long chane. When I return there in row 8 I cannot find the sc to work in the last sc (from 4th repetition), but only the long chane. I have been trying to work this transition for two days and just cannot find my "knot". I would be very thankful if you could help.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7672125489692725745.post-42554338513435712392013-12-17T14:08:38.667-07:002013-12-17T14:08:38.667-07:00Hi, Mary Kay. The easiest way to print this pattern is to select just the text you want (not all the comments, although sometimes the comments have very helpful information) and copy it into a document or email, then print that, although if you paste as HTML, which for some stupid reason is Microsoft Word's default paste, you will have to change the text from white to black by selecting it all again and changing the font color. This is because the HTML paste default pastes the text as white and doesn't adjust for the color of your document or email background, and you likely don't have white ink in your printer anyway.Snowcatcherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06360228352528558176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7672125489692725745.post-76559954688387156952013-12-17T13:55:02.897-07:002013-12-17T13:55:02.897-07:00Please make this pattern printable. I have heard of Dr. Swank's book, and I will have to look it up. From what I remember, it seems he was a crusader for healthy and less-processed food, which we've adopted into our own lifestyles with no regrets whatsoever. If I can get my hands on a copy of the book, it will be interesting to see how much we are already doing. What you are doing on behalf of the people you know who have MS is wonderful. In 2005 I was told I had MS. Fortunately, this was an erroneous diagnosis, but had it never happened I would not have learned about the MS Swank Foundation. I have met so many amazing souls through that organization. Best of all, it changed my lifestyle for the better. An awesome book that I still use to this day is 'The Multiple Sclerosis Diet Book' by Roy Laver Swank, M.D., Ph.D. and Barbara Brewer Dugan. My copy is the 1987 edition. Dr. Swank passed away at the age of 99. He must have followed his own advice. It certainly is a healthy way for anyone to live a wonderful life! Thank you for the magical pattern.
