snowflake graupel

Just when we thought spring had finally arrived, we got another taste of winter. These shots are not with the new macro extension tube; the sun was peeking over the horizon and melting the overnight graupel faster than I could shoot, so I just used the macro lens that was on the camera. Thank heavens this particular freeze didn't last long. But...

We got snow again the day after Mother's Day! The day after it's supposed to be good for planting at our elevation!!!

  1. What crazy weather we are having this year! Last week we were in the high 80's and this week we are in the low 70's! I had to pull my jeans back out!

    1. Oh, Charlotte, you don't know how lucky you are! But perhaps in August you'll be saying the same thing to me...

  2. Spring seems like it is just going to be skipped this year, as winter and the cold just doesn't want to leave

    1. I have to agree with you, Pat. I think spring took a break this year, because now summer is barging in, and, well, I welcome it!

  3. Oh Deb, these are just amazing. Isn't it exciting to see snowflakes shaped like snowflakes? Each one is a little miracle. If you had to have snow so late in the season, I'm glad you got photos of it. :)

    1. It's unbelievable to me, Sue, how intricate each snowflake can be. I'm continually amazed as I look through my snowflake photography books how many there are and no two are identical. Each has its own little personality!

seldom heard, well must you keep your secrets
locked inside, hidden deep from view?
