Better Than a Ribbon

Pretty With Freeze-bit Pink

"Pieces of Braid" is safely back home and features a judge comment that made my heart soar.

"Quilting design compliments the blocks," one of the judges wrote.

That's my own design! Although this piece was not truly free motion quilted (I had to lift and rotate due to tension problems), I have a new feather in my cap next time I do attempt free motion quilting!

I'll be sharing photos from the Denver National Quilt Festival all week next week, with the exception of Snowflake Monday, which was already done, otherwise I might have tried to design a snowflake inspired by the show or something I liked in the show.

  3. I had the same reaction when I first saw that quilt - figured the quilting was your own design. Nice work! The variegated thread also really adds a subtle impact. :)

    1. Thank you, Sue! I'm really crazy about that thread, too. I've been saving for three months and anxious for the quilt show so I could buy more, but the vendor wasn't there this year!!! So now I guess I'll have to order it online.
